In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the

University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the

Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always

temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent

form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until

the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous

gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority

always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from

the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally

collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a

dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the

beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200

years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;

From spiritual faith to great courage;

From courage to liberty;

From liberty to abundance;

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in

St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning

the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29

Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory

McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens

of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low

income tenements and living off various forms of government

welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the

"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of

democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population

already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million

criminal invaders called illegal's - and they vote - then we can say

goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

I've asked this question to a number of people and most of them respond as if I were crazy. They tell me that this is America, land of the free, and that there will always be elections. I tell them that we are no longer the land of the free and that if Obama gets
Re-elected in 2012 that this just may be America's last election.

In the past three years, the Obama administration has been very carefully crafting the nation for a political take over by his Marxist regime and this isn't just my opinion.

Popular radio talk show host (of the Savage Nation on the Talk Radio Network), Michael Savage, is the son of Russian immigrants and is very familiar with Soviet and European history. Savage warned his listeners this week saying, "I have to tell you that if this man, God forbid, is the next president of the United States, we're going to be living in something along the lines of - people say - Europe. I don't believe it's going to be like Europe - I think it will be closer to Chavez's South American dictatorship.

"This is the most corrupt, incompetent, dangerous tyrannical administration in American history. It's not politics as usual. It's not just Democrats versus Republicans. Obama has a long history of being at odds with American values and with America itself and the core principles of this country. They don't want government-sponsored opinions. They only want government-sponsored 'Pravda.' That's exactly what the government-media complex tells you on a daily basis - nothing but the government-media complex party line. Pay attention! Your freedom may be at stake!

Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum told a small group of people in an Iowa coffee house that "Barack Obama is not incompetent, ladies and gentleman. He knows exactly what he's doing and why he's doing it. He sees America differently than you see America."

[Obama] has gone out of his way to divide this country in a way I haven't seen since the Great Depression when Franklin Roosevelt went around to divide his country. That's his hero. What makes America great [in Obama's mind] is that the government takes money from somebody and gives it to somebody else. No, that's what makes America, France.

"With his control over the Executive and Judicial branches of the government, the stage is set for a complete takeover of the government. Think about it! Since taking office, instead of helping the economy, Obama has purposely escalated the economic crisis by plunging the country into unprecedented debt. He has a number of programs that are designed to go into effect in January 2013, just in time for his second term of office. The economic burden and increased taxes on everyone will be enough to cause the final economic collapse of the country. As soon as that happens, Obama declares Martial Law and assumes dictatorial control of the nation.

The Department of Justice has already been subverting federal laws to strip us of a number of freedoms. The Supreme Court and many of the other federal courts have been seeded with socialistic liberal judges that will rule in Obama's favor on virtually anything, thus ending constitutional rule and law.

He's already changing the face of America's military. Allowing homosexuals to openly serve along with changing the retirement program is causing many conservative military leaders to resign commissions and leave the military. Some Pentagon officials are also noting that an increase in the enlistment of radical Muslims into the US military where they get all the training they need on weapons and defense systems. We have no idea how many of them there are in the armed forces or in what positions they may hold.

Obama has been wielding executive powers this past year as if he were already a dictator. When Congress is not doing his bidding, he simply bypasses them and uses an executive order to accomplish it anyway. This has set the stage for his disbandment of Congress. He would not be the first world leader to take control of a nation and disband the legislative branch of government.

He has been effectively using the media to anesthetize the public to the dangers he poses. Like a patient being prepped for surgery, people are numb to the changes and won't have a clue what took place until they wake up in recovery and realize that free America has been removed and replaced with a regime that may parallel those of Stalin, Lenin, Mussolini, Hitler, Chavez and Castro.

For the sake of our children and grandchildren, I earnestly pray that we are spared from what seems a certain future.

We now live about 30 miles from Fresno . We are up in the Sierras and Fresno is the first big town we encounter when we leave the mountains.

We shop there often. I received this from my ex-homicide partner who is still active in law enforcement circles in the Fresno area.

Excuse the language, but don't excuse the facts. Don't give up your guns, and buy necessary ammunition if you can find it. Be cautious and alert.

Be ready if, God forbid, we need to protect our families and loved ones.

At our Rotary meeting on Friday, we had the only decent speaker we've had in more than a year. LTC John Cotter is the 144th Fighter Wing's anti terrorism officer. John had a two-part presentation. First part was describing his job as the unit’s anti-terrorism officer. Pretty standard stuff.

A part-time air guardsman works as a checker at local Von's. Two women in full burkas buy every pre-paid cell phone in the store. Clerk/airman gets to thinking about it.

Goes to Cotter and reports incident. Cotter asks store for surveillance video. It's scary enough that he contacts Fresno FBI.

FBI investigates and determines these women have been doing this all over the Valley. Cell phones shipped through Canada to Iraq/Afghanistan where they become triggers for roadside bombs.

The Shell station at Peach and Shaw. Every time a local GI goes there in fatigues they are asked specific questions. What is your unit? When are you deploying? How many aircraft are you taking?

The F-16s out of Fresno fly CAP for west coast. As such they are the first line of defense so they have the US 's most sophisticated air-to-air missiles. Foreign governments would like to get their hands on those missiles or at least learn how to build them. Also how many we have, etc. Two spy groups are working on it, one based at Fashion Fair Mall (the F-16s take-off pattern) and one based at Sierra Vista Mall (the F-16s landing pattern).

Cotter said the ragheads (but we don't profile) are always probing the base. Two dorks in a pickup show up at the front gate wanting to deliver a package marked Air National Guard, Fresno .. No postage, no UPS, no FedEx, no DHL, no nothing. Just a probe.

I asked Cotter why we haven't seen anything about this in The Bee, on KMJ, on local TV news. He said they're not interested. Since Friday I've learned of two other things. My brother-in-law, Frank, (management at Avaya) had a Muslim tech who took a leave-of-absence for 6 weeks in Afghanistan . After the 6 weeks were up he called from New York requesting an extension. Frank (who
does profile) said, you're fired, and called the Fresno FBI who were very interested. Don't know the outcome. A Muslim who owns a liquor store in my former hometown of Kingsburg was constantly bugging customers to buy guns for him. Finally one of the guys I grew up with called the FBI.

We are a country at war and the enemy is among us. I don't care what Janet Napolitano says, it's a fight to the death and we should be as prepared as possible. Brother-in-law Frank has a theory and I think it may be closer to the truth than Homeland Security wants to admit. See note below in red There are a certain number (probably a large number) of Muslims among us who are awaiting the trigger date and will begin randomly killing as many of us as they can, sort of a Fort Hood on steroids. I know I'm getting prepared to shoot back.

Columnist Jim Boren, among the most bleeding of the bleeding heart liberals, says it's time for Fresno residents to arm themselves. In  each case, you are told to call the  809number right  away.

General Electric Takes its Money and Jobs to China

Keeping in mind that GE OWNS NBC, CNBC AND MSNBC

General Electric is planning to move its 115-year-old X-ray division from Waukesha, Wis. to Beijing. In addition to moving the headquarters, the company will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers. This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year,but paid no taxes ... the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the United States.

So let me get this straight. President Obama appointed GE Chairman Jeff Immelt to head his commission on job creation (job czar). Immelt is supposed to help create jobs. I guess the President forgot to tell him in which country he was supposed to be creating those jobs. If this doesn't show you the total lack of leadership of this President, I don't know what does. Please pass this information to others and think about it before you buy a GE product.

Tennessee Football

This is a statement that was read over the PA system at the football game at Roane County High School , Kingston , Tennessee by school Principal, Jody McLeod

"It has always been the custom at Roane County High School football games, to say a prayer and play the National Anthem, to honor God and Country."

Due to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, I am told that saying a Prayer is a violation of Federal Case Law. As I understand the law at this time, I can use this public facility to approve of sexual perversion and call it "an alternate life style," and if someone is offended, that's OK.

I can use it to condone sexual promiscuity, by dispensing condoms and calling it, "safe sex." If someone is offended, that's OK.

I can even use this public facility to present the merits of killing an unborn baby as a "viable" Means of birth control." If someone is offended, no problem...

I can designate a school day as "Earth Day" and involve students in activities to worship religiously and praise the goddess "Mother Earth" and call it "ecology.."

I can use literature, videos and presentations in the classroom that depicts people with strong, traditional Christian convictions as "simple minded" and "ignorant" and call it "enlightenment.."

However, if anyone uses this facility to honor GOD and to ask HIM to Bless this event with safety and good sportsmanship, then Federal Case Law is violated.

This appears to be inconsistent at best, and at worst, diabolical.

Apparently, we are to be tolerant of everything and anyone, except GOD and HIS Commandments.

Nevertheless , as a school principal, I frequently ask staff and students to abide by rules with which they do not necessarily agree. For me to do otherwise would be inconsistent at best, and at worst, hypocritical. I suffer from that affliction enough unintentionally. I certainly do not need to add an intentional transgression.

For this reason, I shall "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's," and refrain from praying at this time.

" However, if you feel inspired to honor, praise and thank GOD and ask HIM,in the name of JESUS, to Bless this event, please feel free to do so.. As far as I know, that's not against the law--yet."

One by one, the people in the stands bowed their heads, held hands with one another and began to pray.

They prayed in the stands. They prayed in the team huddles. They prayed at the concession stand and they prayed in the Announcer's Box!

The only place they didn't pray was in the Supreme Court of the United States of America- the Seat of "Justice" in the "one nation, under GOD."

Somehow, Kingston , Tennessee Remembered what so many have forgotten. We are given the Freedom OF Religion, not the Freedom FROM Religion Praise GOD that HIS remnant remains!

Americas Fiscal Cliff

Here is a summary of a tax article (24 pages long - the article not the summary!)  I received to keep you up on what is or could happen if Congress fails to act by the end of 2012. This will effect EVERYBODY so it is vital that you at least be informed. I tried to spell it out as best I could and simple to understand language. Not Dave's crew language of "me tax up, pay down" but a few steps up from there. Pay close attention to the last few weeks of the year, as any action or lack of will affect all of us deeply.

Economists say that if the package of tax increases and spending cuts known as the "fiscal cliff" takes effect on Jan. 1 the economy will likely sink into a recession.

Everyone who pays income tax — and some who don't —will feel it. So will doctors who accept Medicare, people who get unemployment aid, defense contractors, air traffic controllers, national park rangers and companies that do research and development. The package of tax increases and spending cuts known as the "fiscal cliff" takes effect in January unless Congress passes a budget deal by then. The economy would be hit so hard that it would likely sink into recession in the first half of 2013, economists say. And no matter who you are, it will be all but impossible to avoid the pain.

Middle income families would have to pay an average of about $2,000 more next year. Up to 3.4 million jobs would be lost, the unemployment rate would reach 9.1 percent from the current 7.9 percent. Stocks could plunge. The nonpartisan estimate a total cost of the cliff in 2013 at $671 billion. Collectively, the tax increases would be the steepest to hit Americans in 60 years when measured as a percentage of the economy. Most of the damage — roughly two-thirds — would come from the tax increases. But the spending cuts would cause pain, too.

The bleak scenario could push the White House and Congress to reach a deal before year's end. On Tuesday, Congress returns for a post-election session that could last through Dec. 31. At a minimum, analysts say some temporary compromise might be reached, allowing a final deal to be cut early next year.

Still, uncertainty about a final deal could cause many companies to further delay hiring and spend less.

Already, many U.S. companies say anxiety about the fiscal cliff has led them to put off plans to expand or hire. A breakdown in negotiations could also ignite turmoil in financial markets. It could resemble the 700-point fall in the Dow Jones industrial average in 2008 after the House initially rejected the $700 billion bailout of major banks. Since President Barack Obama's re-election, nervous investors have sold stocks. The Standard & Poor's 500 index sank 2.3 percent last week, its worst weekly drop since June. The sell-off resulted in part from anxiety over higher tax rates on investment gains once the fiscal cliff kicks in.

Last week, Obama said he was open to compromise with Republican leaders. But the White House said he would veto any bill that would extend tax cuts on income above $250,000. Republican House Speaker John Boehner countered that higher tax rates on upper-income Americans would slow job growth. Boehner argued that any deal must reduce tax rates, eliminate special-interest loopholes and rein in government benefits.  More than 50 percent of the tax increases would come from the expiration of tax cuts approved in 2001 and 2003 and from additional tax cuts in a 2009 economic stimulus law.

The first set of tax cuts reduced rates on income, investment gains, dividends and estates. They also boosted tax credits for families with children. Deductions for married couples also rose. The 2009 measure increased tax credits for low-income earners and college students. About 20 percent of the tax increase would come from the expiration of a Social Security tax cut enacted in 2010. This change would cost someone making $50,000 about $1,000 a year, or nearly $20 a week, and a household with two high-paid workers up to $4,500, or nearly $87 a week. The end of the Social Security tax cut isn't technically among the changes triggered by the fiscal cliff. But because it expires at the same time, it's included in most calculations of the fiscal cliff's effects. And it could catch many people by surprise. Every worker in America is going to see a reduction in their paycheck in the first pay period of 2013.

An additional 20 percent of the tax increase would come from the end of about 80 tax breaks, mostly for businesses. One is a tax credit for research and development. Another lets companies deduct from their income half the cost of large equipment or machinery. Many mid-size companies are holding off on equipment purchases or hiring until the fate of those tax breaks becomes clear. The research and development credit typically lets a company that hired an engineer at a $100,000 salary cut its tax bill by $10,000. The credit has been routinely extended since the 1980s.

The rest of the tax increase would come mainly from the alternative minimum tax, or AMT. It would hit 30 million Americans, up from 4 million now. The costly AMT was designed to prevent rich people from exploiting loopholes and deductions to avoid any income tax. But the AMT wasn't indexed for inflation, so it's increasingly threatened middle-income taxpayers. Congress has acted each year to prevent the AMT from hitting many more people. Under the fiscal cliff, households in the lowest 20 percent of earners would pay an average of $412 more. The top 20 percent would pay an average $14,000 more, the top 1 percent $121,000 more. All this would lead many consumers to spend less. Anticipating reduced sales and profits, businesses would likely cut jobs. Others would delay hiring.

Another part of the cliff is a package of across-the-board spending cuts to defense and domestic programs — cuts would total about $85 billion. Congress and the Obama administration agreed last year that these cuts would kick in if a congressional panel couldn't agree on a deficit-reduction plan. The magnitude of the cuts was intended to force agreement. It didn't. Defense spending would shrink 10 percent, causing temporary job losses among civilian Pentagon employees and major defense contractors. Spending on weapons programs would be cut. For domestic programs, like highway funding, aid to state and local governments and health research, spending would drop about 8 percent. Education grants to states and localities; the FBI and other law enforcement; environmental protection; and air traffic controllers, among others, would also be affected, the White House says. Hospitals and doctors' offices could also cut jobs if an $11 billion cut in Medicare payments isn't reversed.

Extended unemployment benefits for about 2 million people would end. The extra benefits provide up to 73 weeks of aid.

9 Things That Will Disappear In Our Lifetime ~ Whether these changes are good or bad depends in part on how we adapt to them. But, ready or not, here they come. 
1. The Post Office
Get ready to imagine a world without the post office. They are so deeply in financial trouble that there is probably no way to sustain it long term. Email, Fed Ex, and UPS have just about wiped out the minimum revenue needed to keep the post office alive. Most of your mail every day is junk mail and bills.
2. The Check
Britain is already laying the groundwork to do away with the check by 2018.  It costs the financial system billions of dollars a year to process checks.   Plastic cards and online transactions will lead to the eventual demise of the check.  This plays right into the death of the post office.  If you never paid your bills by mail and never received them by mail, the post office would absolutely go out of business.
3. The Newspaper The younger generation simply doesn't read the newspaper. They certainly don't subscribe to a daily delivered print edition. That may go the way of the milkman and the laundry man. As for reading the paper online, get ready to pay for it. The rise in mobile Internet devices and e-readers has caused all the newspaper and magazine publishers to form an alliance. They have met with Apple, Amazon, and the major cell phone companies to develop a model for paid subscription services.
4. The Book You say you will never give up the physical book that you hold in your hand and turn the literal pages. I said the same thing about downloading music from iTunes. I wanted my hard copy CD.  But I quickly changed my mind when I discovered that I could get albums for half the price without ever leaving home to get the latest music. The same thing will happen with books. You can browse a bookstore online and even read a preview chapter before you buy.  And the price is less than half that of a real book. And think of the convenience!  Once you start flicking your fingers on the screen instead of the book, you find that you are lost in the story, can't wait to see what happens next, and you forget that you're holding a gadget instead of a book.
5. The Land Line Telephone Unless you have a large family and make a lot of local calls, you don't need it anymore.  Most people keep it simply because they've always had it.  But you are paying double charges for that extra service. All the cell phone companies will let you call customers using the same cell provider for no charge against your minutes6. Music This is one of the saddest parts of the change story. The music industry is dying a slow death. Not just because of illegal downloading. It's the lack of innovative new music being given a chance to get to the people who would like to hear it. Greed and corruption is the problem. The record labels and the radio conglomerates are simply self-destructing. Over 40% of the music purchased today is "catalogue items," meaning traditional music that the public is familiar with. Older established artists. This is also true on the live concert circuit. 7. Television Revenues to the networks are down dramatically.  Not just because of the economy.  People are watching TV and movies streamed from their computers. And they're playing games and doing lots of other things that take up the time that used to be spent watching TV.  Prime time shows have degenerated down to lower than the lowest common denominator. Cable rates are skyrocketing and commercials run about every 4 minutes and 30 seconds.  I say good riddance to most of it.  It's time for the cable companies to be put out of our misery.  Let the people choose what they want to watch online and through Netflix.
8. The "Things" That You Own Many of the very possessions that we used to own are still in our lives, but we may not actually own them in the future. They may simply reside in "the cloud." Today your computer has a hard drive and you store your pictures, music, movies, and documents. Your software is on a CD or DVD, and you can always re-install it if need be. But all of that is changing. Apple, Microsoft, and Google are all finishing up their latest "cloud services." That means that when you turn on a computer, the Internet will be built into the operating system. So, Windows, Google, and the Mac OS will be tied straight into the Internet. If you click an icon, it will open something in the Internet cloud. If you save something, it will be saved to the cloud. And you may pay a monthly subscription fee to the cloud provider. In this virtual world, you can access your music or your books, or your whatever from any laptop or handheld device. That's the good news. But, will you actually own any of this "stuff" or will it all be able to disappear at any moment in a big "Poof?" Will most of the things in our lives be disposable and whimsical? It makes you want to run to the closet and pull out that photo album, grab a book from the shelf, or open up a CD case and pull out the insert.
9. Privacy If there ever was a concept that we can look back on nostalgically, it would be privacy. That's gone. It's been gone for a long time anyway. There are cameras on the street, in most of the buildings, and even built into your computer and cell phone. But you can be sure that 24/7, "They" know who you are and where you are, right down to the GPS coordinates, and the Google Street View. If you buy something, your habit is put into a zillion profiles, and your ads will change to reflect those habits. "They" will try to get you to buy something else. Again and again. 
All we will have left that can't be changed are "Memories".  And then probably Alzheimer will take that away from you too!

Sad Day for An American

Dear Sean,

Today I was incensed at the conclusion of a traditional Serbian-Orthodox funeral for my beloved 85 year old uncle, Daniel Martich, who proudly served in the US Army during The Korean Conflict. During the committal service at a Pittsburgh cemetery the local military detachment performed their ritual, then folded and presented the American Flag to my aunt. As I'm sure you have witnessed during military funerals, a soldier bends to one knee and recites a scripted message to a surviving relative that begins 'On behalf of the President of the United States and a grateful nation, I wish to present you with this flag in appreciation for your husband's service ...'. However, today the dialogue was 'On behalf of the Secretary of Defense and a grateful nation ...' After the service I approached the soldier who presented the flag to my aunt to inquire about the change in language. His response was "The White House notified all military funeral service detachments to immediately remove 'the President' and insert 'the Secretary of Defense'. I couldn't believe what I heard and the soldier smiled and said "You can draw your own conclusion sir but that was the order". He, too, was ashamed of what he was required to say.

This president has taken off the gloves. My only response to this endless cesspool of Anti-American rhetoric dripping from his mouth is to borrow a phrase (with one minor change) uttered by another temporary Washington resident living in government housing:  "Today for the first time in my adult life I was ASHAMED of my country". I did not serve in the military but my love of country parallels that of people like my late uncle who bled Red, White and Blue. As a second generation Serbian-American who's heritage produced many patriotic military men and women who fought for freedom both in The United States as well as in the former Yugoslavia (most recently in Kosovo against the slaughter of Serbs by Muslim extremists) I implore you to make the American people aware of this little-known or, at least, publicly acknowledged fact.

May God Bless you and your family during these difficult times. Your voice of reason is a welcome change from the insanity plastered across the country by the liberal media. Keep up the great work and thank you for your service to our country.

The Night Watchman

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert.

Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night."

So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?"

So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.

Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?"

So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One was to do the studies and one was to write the reports.

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?"

So they created two positions: a time keeper and a payroll officer then hired two people.

Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?"

So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $918,000 over budget, we must cut back."

So they laid-off the night watchman.

NOW slowly, let it sink in.

Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter. Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY during the Carter administration?

Anybody?

Anything?

No?

Didn't think so!

Bottom line is, we've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency, the reason for which very few people who read this can remember!

It was very simple... and at the time, everybody thought it very appropriate.

The Department of Energy was instituted on 8/04/1977, TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Hey, pretty efficient, huh???

AND NOW IT'S 2012 -- 35 YEARS LATER -- AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS "NECESSARY" DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. IT HAS 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE!

(THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?")

34 years ago 30% of our oil consumption was foreign imports. Today 70% of our oil consumption is foreign imports.

Ah, yes -- good old Federal bureaucracy.

A Disabled American Veterans Story

My  name is d'Lynn.  I'm a disabled Vietnam vet.  I don't look too bad for a beat-up old fart, do I?  And that's my ride..   She's looking pretty good also, especially  when you consider that she'll turn twenty this  summer.  That's right, it's a 1990 with a  1990 sidecar.  I can't ride a solo bike, ergo the sidecar rig.  It's my sole means  of transportation - rain or shine, snow or wind,  and this summer also marks a milestone in both  of our lives, as I will finally be able to pay  her off.  Twenty years old?  What?   Why did it take so long?  You weren't  paying attention, were you?  It's right at the beginning of this paragraph.

I  am a disabled vet, which means I receive a  veterans administration disability pension, which also means "I'm broke!"  Just one  step ahead of being homeless every month, and  that's not an idle statement or an "Oh, woe is  me" dire complaint.  There’s a point to  this, so hang in there a minute or two and read  on.

There's a 25-year-old illegal  immigrant woman living in Florida , with eight  kids.  Yes, eight "anchor babies" and she  receives just shy of $1,500 per month per kid, plus medical, plus food stamps.

Oh,  wait.  I've been informed that I shouldn't  call them Food Stamps anymore.  That's not  PC.  It's all called “Social Assistance”  now.  You do the math on that yourself..  I'd say that she was schooled early in how  to make it in the system.  Twenty-five years old, eight kids. . . . . yep, she started  early.

You  can whip out the calculator if you want, but  this woman, who never has paid a dime in taxes of any kind, (and still doesn't – she's  'illegal,' remember?) is here in this country  illegally.  She hasn’t paid out one cent in  medical for all the “anchor babies,” makes more  in one month, legally, than I receive in over a  year and a half in disability payments and I  can't even get food stamps!  Oops, I mean “Social Assistance.”

Technically I am eligible for “Social Assistance.”  I was told it would be a walk through – a gimme –  being disabled.  No problem, and in the  very next breath I was also informed that under  the law the amount I received in “Social  Assistance” would be deducted from my disability  pension.

Let's say I take a great photograph.  It was just  luck, a one of a kind accident, in the right place at the right time shot.  My local  newspaper offers me fifty bucks to use the photo in a featured story.  (I live in a small town and fifty bucks is all they could afford.)   I have to report that fifty dollars to  the VA as earned income, which will immediately be deducted from my next month’s disability check..  If I don't report it I’m  in violation of federal law and technically they can stop my disability pension and prosecute me under a federal felony. Pretty cool, eh?  For fifty bucks.

I  see no point in dealing with two federal  bureaucracies, so I don't bother.  What's  the point?

She's  here illegally and with just one kid would make  over twice what I receive per month.  She  has eight and she’s not a stand-out case.  She’s not alone.  That's the way the  system works.  Millions of illegal  immigrants know this, know how the system works  and know how to use it.  (Haven't you seen  the pamphlet?  It's handed out all along  our borders, "The Illegal Immigrants' Guide to  Keeping America Just The Way It Is.") and that's  just the way it works.

Did  you know that the federal government provides a  “refugee” in this country with a monthly  “stipend” of $1,890, plus $580 a month in  “Social Assistance?” That’s $2,470 a month,  tax-free.  That's two and a half times  what I’m allowed to receive as a disabled  vet. And  just what did they do to earn this?  All  you have to do is show up on our collective  doorstep, raise your right hand and swear that  you're a refugee and, bingo, receive $30,000 a  year, tax-free.  That's more than someone  making $15 an hour, and they have to pay taxes  to boot!

Now, in defense of the Veterans Administration, they are doing what they can with what they've got.  This is precious little compared to what they should have to get the job done.  At least this country has a VA.

It's the Senate that keeps passing laws, rules and  guidelines, cutting their budget, denying  requests for more staff and computer systems to  handle the massive work flow.  Their hands are tied by the very government that's supposed to give them what they need to get the job done,  by the government you voted into office.   Don't scream at the VA.  I have.  It's misguided anger.

The  point to this “story?”  Just why are you paying such high taxes to support this incredibly screwed-up government?  Why?  And I’m not proposing you stop paying your taxes.  That's wrong.  There are good programs and reasons to pay your taxes and  support our government.

What  am I proposing?  It's quite simple.   Vote.

The  government, our government, is broken and we as  the voters serve as the maintenance crew.  We fix it . . . . . by voting. If your  state Senator has been in office more than two  terms, vote 'em out at the next election.   If your state representative has been in  office more than two terms, vote 'em out of  office.  We put term limits on just about  every publicly-elected official in the country  except the House and Senate.

Why?   Believe me, they know this and love it!   Ahhh - the power!

I  don't care how much you believe your Senator or  Representative is doing a good job.   They're not!  Look at the government  you have....that we have.  How can you  state they are doing what you want as the voter  that put them there?  How?

Vote them out of office.  Do it.

Change  the course of this country's history by what you  are granted and guaranteed under the law.   Vote!  And if you have the guts, the  anger, the outrage, start a petition in your  state for a state-wide initiative to be placed  on your next state ballot.  Limiting the  terms of office for your state senators and  state representatives to your federal government  to two terms.

The  federal government will never pass such a law,  but you can.  You can get it done.   You can force it.  You can make it a  law.

This is the first step in “getting  it right.”  Just vote.  It's simple.  It's easy, dammit! This first step will  send a very clear message. It’ll work.   It’ill put “us” back in control of “them.”   As it should be.  As it was intended  in the first place.

Are you an American?   Born and raised?  Then vote!

Side note:  I sent this e-mail  to a little over one hundred on my e-mail list.   If you believe I’m wrong or misguided or  you simply don't agree, that's fine.  Go  right ahead and delete this e-mail..  No  problem.  Sorry to have bothered you.   But if you think I just might have a  worthwhile idea, something we can easily  accomplish, something that could be a small part  at getting this country back under “our” control, then please pass this along.

America The Broken Hearted

Another post by the brilliant mind of Amber Best Roberts - I want all of my friends and family to read this. I think we should all strive to make the changes that she suggests:

It was hard to face my children at the breakfast table this morning. My heart breaks for them, and this country. There is a great a division in this nation.

There are an abundance of people who voted out of ignorance, who couldn't tell you a single policy they voted for by voting for President Obama. There are those who voted right down party lines; but, the people that truly break my heart, break my heart because of their core beliefs. Core beliefs that are contrary to not only how this country was established, but contrary to God.

As I looked in my children's faces this morning, I felt like this nation had failed them. My solace is that I know that God is my Ultimate Leader and only true peace comes through Jesus Christ. So, for those of you that are in my same mind set or you are broken hearted for your country, the attack on Christian values, your children, the millions of aborted, the debt, Israel, the military, answers to Fast & Furious, the terrorist attack in Libya, rising unemployment, rising taxes, the debt cliff, the hurt on small businesses, an estimated 200,000 defense job cuts in Virginia alone, the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy... to a name just a few. What do WE do?

Let's start in our home, with our families. What values are children learning from us? What do they see us do? What do they hear us say? We can't look to schools, whether public, private, or Christian to teach our children values. God isn't even in most of them, He simply is not allowed. The lessons need to start at home.

To parents, who do our children look up to today? Is it the rapper that stood next to our president and said the N word, Fu*#, "ho", and bitch repeatedly? How many women have been slapped around and called a bitch and "ho" ? How many of God's children were called the N word as they were beaten by slaves are forced to use the back door? President Obama said he had that song on his iPod, and so do his daughters. This is representation of America's first family, but I don't have to answer for his family and neither do you. I am accountable to God for mine. You are accountable to God for yours. Believe in Him or not, He believes in us, He loves us, and He holds us accountable for our actions.

What are our children watching on TV? Can they name all the cast of the Jersey Shore, but they couldn't tell you who refused to ride in the back of the bus? What do their web searches represent? Do our children want every new gadget, clothes, "stuff" yet they've never visited a shelter or seen poverty. Do we even know their hopes, their desires, and their dreams? Don't mistake me, I'm preaching to the choir. So, my plan for change:

As I finish up this post, I have decided to unplug for a while. I need to examine my own heart and family. What can I do to better serve God, family, and others? I want to read more to my daughters, then read what's new on Facebook? I want to have more dates with my husband then plan the perfect, mostly pretend getaway on Pinterest. I want to pray more to God then I talk on the phone. I want to do more for others, and show my children more of what giving looks like. I want to do less socially, so that I can do more for my church. I want to text less, email less, post less, and write letters to my daughters, like my Daddy did for me. There is nothing in my life that is free from re-examination.

My last post went a bit viral (for a simple girl like me). I had people contact me, that I didn't even know. I hope the THEME of this post go viral in hearts and homes, because that is when TRUE CHANGE will come.

On a final, funny note. My oldest daughter, Ivy patted me on the back this morning, and said, "you need some coffee." I told both of my girls it was important that we continue to pray for our president, President Obama. They both agreed, with the exception of 6 year old, Bella, who said, "well, if he (President) starts telling us we can't have puppies, I'm not going to pray for him anymore" The innocence of my children brightened my day. God bless you all. Christians, "be still" and know that He is God.
